Three-star wide receiver C.J. Hayes showing interest in WMU

Western Michigan University already dipped into the state of Kentucky once for their 2017 recruiting class and picked up a commitment quarterback Tanner Morgan. The Broncos look to be in the running for another player from the "Bluegrass State" who could help bolster WMU's aerial attack.

Three-star wide receiver C.J. Hayes from South Warren High School (Bowling Green, Ky.) said WMU is currently one of his top schools and plans to visit Kalamazoo soon.

"The (WMU) coaching staff seems like they really care about their players and are passionate about they do."

In addition to great coaches, Hayes said he's looking for a school with great academics, a high powered offense, a great fan base and a family type atmosphere amongst the team.

"It (a family feel) would be important to me," Hayes said. "I wouldn't go to a school unless I have that feeling."

Hayes said head coach P.J. Fleck and assistant coach and wide receiver coach Matt Simon are his main recruiters and have talked a lot about how Hayes will be used in the Bronco offense.

"(They want to get me) in space to get the ball in my hands and use me at the X (outside) receiver," Hayes said.

Western Michigan coaches aren't the only ones recruiting Hayes. He said that other members of the WMU 2017 class have reached out him, including Tanner Morgan and Noah Hickcox.

"I know Tanner Morgan and we talk everyday. He followed me on Twitter and started talking to me though direct messages," Hayes said. "He saw my film and would love for me to be a part of the team."

Hayes, who currently has 15 offers, including offers from the University of Cincinnati, Bowling Green State University, Middle Tennessee State University and the University of Toledo, said he would like to commit before his senior football season begins.
